10 Units Virginia Tech -3 -102
Old Dominion is (0-2 SU, ATS) off a 90-64 disaster against North Carolina (as a +18 dog) and then an ego building 75-72 loss to St. Joe's. They allowed North Carolina to shoot 62%! OD (12-15 SU, 8-16 ATS last season) is very young, with a decent frontcourt in 6’-9”, sophomore Alex Laughton (16 ppg, 9 rpg) and freshman 6’-7” Arnaud Dahi (8 rpg). At Virginia Tech (3-1 SU, 0-2 ATS) there is a returning scoring sensation at small forward in Bryant Matthews (25 ppg) and guard Jamon Gordon (14 ppg), a defensive specialist, for coach Seth Greenberg. They lost to Virginia 80-65 last week. Tech is shooting 42% and allowing 42% while scoring 70 ppg. This is another cakewalk for Tech with Matthews leading the way to 4-1.

Colonial Athletic Association battle and a contrast in styles: William & Mary likes to run and gun, NC Wilmington likes to play 'D'. The NC Wilmington Seahawks (3-1 SU, 1-1 ATS) play terrific defense, holding teams to 38% shooting allowing 58.8 ppg. They are working in new faces this season, but 6’-6” senior Anthony Terrell (8 ppg) and 6’-2” junior Ed Spencer (13 ppg) lead the way. Two newcomers have been working the boards in 6’-6” junior Halston Lane (from Georgia Tech) and 6’-7” sophomore Taylor Lay. They love a slow down game with rough, tough defense and this is their third straight road game. The William & Mary Tribe (2-2) have only played one good team and got flattened 73-57 at George Washington. They like to run and gun, with a tall frontcourt of 6’-7” senior Adam Hess (22 points and 6 rebounds per game), 6’-9” senior Zeb Cope (14 ppg, 6 rpg) and 6’-9” freshman Brian Hutt (7.8 rpg). But they don't play much defense, giving up 71.5 ppg. These teams played twice late last season and NC Wilmington won both, 72-48 and 60-49. Clearly, defense ruled, but look for a much closer game as W&M has home court and a big edge under the boards.

Winless (0-3 SU) Western Kentucky (68 ppg) coach Darrin Horn wants an up-tempo, pressing style and has decent guard play in 6’-0” junior Antonio Haynes and 6’-4” sophomore Anthony Winchester but the problem is rebounding. This small Western Kentucky team could get mauled under the boards by big time Louisville. The Louisville Cardinals (0-1 SU, ATS) lost a thiller in the first round of the John Wooden Tradition to Iowa in overtime 70-69. Luke Whitehead scored 18 points and Francisco Garcia added 17 for Louisville, which was 11-of-27 from 3-point range. The Cardinal 3-point gunners still searching for win number one, get it with ease in this game from Nashville, Tennessee.
